EDIT2: Darn, I'm quite indecisive about this chapter, aren't I? I've edited the chapter again now, this time to move the location of the ring from a random tree, to the grave of Elizabeth Chadminster's dead soon, David Chadminster. It makes Emily's plight into villainy much more obvious, and digging up a grave is much more impactful than digging up some random spot in a field; plus, it means nobody would chance upon the ring by accident: Only someone who knew it was there would dare to dig up a dead dragon's resting spot.

As a result of grave-robbing, this chapter is now also flagged as Ideologically Sensitive.

EDIT: Changed a considerable part of this story to make it less spoilery. I've also changed how Elizabeth reacts to Emily's plans to use the ring: Now she totally against it, leading to Emily actively disobeying her godmother, and proceeding with her plans to use the ring regardless.

...Two magical rings have been in the possession of the English Draconic house of Chadminster since the time of Eadwyn, the legendary White Dragon, who died in a fight against Annest, the Red Dragoness of Wales. House Chadminster are the descendants of that white dragon, and have been plotting to take political power and create an English throne for dragonkind since the days of the Anglo-Saxons and Mercian Supremacy; as times changed and the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms merged to create a single English nation, and then later a British Empire, the Chadminsters changed too: From Draconic Relgimists, to Anglo-Saxon Catholics, to English Protestants. Their names and their culture may change, but their dream never changed: Take control of the English throne, and establish a draconic nation for English dragons.
