Bio
Alexander Greywater was born in Amsterdam in Northern Holland, and his family migrated to the fledling United States, seeking to expand their already pretty big fortune. His family settled in the land which would later become New Amsterdam, then later still New York.
In his adult years, Alexander hoped to become a US senator, and maybe even the first dragon president of the United States, but that was never really meant to be, since, while his political career saw him rise to becoming a governor of the State of New York for a time, he was only ever going to be in the seat of American Government once in his life.
This is because of Avalar; Avalar had taken over the Netherlands, and the kingdom's king, King Gether, though means we may never know of, had come to hear good things about the Greywater name; as a result, the king sent summons to the former governor requesting him to come to Avalar. What would you know, being an Avalarian Lord was more profitable to Greywater than being an American Governor, so it seems.
the role of Lord suited Greywater well, and rose through the ranks with some ease. Gether had changed the way the Avalarian kingdom was ruled, there was now a lord which ruled over every province of the kingdom, as well as a few 'sub-lords' which would rule parts of the province and the major cities. It eventually came to be that Greywater was one of Gether's most favoured lords, and offered the dragon lord the title of 'Lord of the Avalarian Netherlands', which the dragon was only too happy to accept; he was also granted the permission to use Dutch land to found his own settlement, which would later become the Avalarian city-state of Greywater, named after its founder and ruler.

The problems set in on the turn of the 21st Century, starting immediately in the year 2000, which would scar a fragment of Greywater's mind, and sour him from the progressively left-wing nature of Avalar's society, and then against Avalar's ruling powers itself.
The problems started in the year 2000, as a US governor, Alexander had been considered rather conservative in the way he ruled; while this was no problem, each Lord of Avalar brought something different to the table, Greywater actively sought to undermime the lords which disagreed with him; the central area he disagreed with was with the concept of mixed-race schools (I.e. Humans with Dragons), many other lords simply saw him as racist, but he had, back in America, genuinely seen some dragons struggle to come to terms with the idea that they would progress through school so quickly for dragons or so slowly for humans, and it, in his mind, promoted mediocrity. But that wasn't the major problem.
The major problem was also in 2000, but that was during the early years of the Malefor Wars, during a time where a dragon named Cynder, whom of which would later defect and join the Avalarians, attacked many places across the world, one of which, was Greywater. The attack was repelled, but not at the cost of severe damage to part of his city. Now Greywater was enraged by this, since the government of the time was, in his view, more concerned with cleaning up the mess rather than killing the forces which caused the attack; this was also the first place Greywater and the dragon Ddraigtanto, whom of which would later become the next king of Avalar, where their rivalry formed.
The final straw however was in 2008, when king Gether and his family died. Gether and Greywater had been very close friends for a long time, and Greywater expected to be named king if the entire Lucien family died, but what actually happened was Ddraigtanto was crowned king; this was the last straw for Greywater. He didn't think it was at all fair, since Ddraigtanto and the Luciens didn't get on and Ddraigtanto had actively called them aloof and oblivious to what was going on in Avalar, claiming it was the Lords and the Parliament which was doing his job for him while Gether lapped up the credit. Alexander thought it was himself that should've been king, because Gether frequently hailed Greywater as his favoured lord, and once, a drunken Gether had even suggested that he wanted to have him inherit the throne if he died, although no such thing was ever written in his will.

It was from that moment on that Greywater withdrew from Avalarian politics, vowing that he would never support Ddraigtanto or any lords or MPs which supported him. The lord then returned to his palace in Greywater and refused to attend any assemblies the Lords ever held. Various other lords who supported him also defected and stopped attending assemblies, and were then called "The Grey Lords" of Avalar, while Ddraigtanto-supporting Lords became known as "The Sworn Lords", since all lords were required to swear loyalty to the king, and those who supported Ddraigtanto happily swore loyalty to him.
Today, Greywater has blocked and fought anything the king or his government has proposed at every corner, no matter what it was, any laws that DO get passed, Greywater then refuses to enforce, and even goes as far as to ignore Avalarian Law, and rule Greywater his own way. His title as the Lord of the Avalarian Netherlands still holds true, regardless of Ddraigtanto's thoughts or wishes, and his opposition to Avalar has earned him much loyalty from the Dutch people. Some believe that it's only a matter of time before Alexander plans a full scale uprising...

Well, I had some trouble coming up for the backstory for this guy, and most of it was made up on the spot five minutes ago, but here we are!

Lord Greywater, my latest OC. Like normal, his existence emerged from a random thought I had while thinking of a character from one of the recent Sherlock Homes Movies: Lord Blackwood.
Originally, Greywater was going to be known as "Lord Drywater", but I lost concentration when writing his name down a short while ago, and put greywater down by mistake, and low and behold, it sounded much better (in my mind) and much less odd (I mean, drywater? It's a bit of mixed up name. How do you have Dry water?).

Later, I then decided that Lord Greywater should be more important than your average lord; I also noticed how little opposition my OC Ddraigtanto seems to have, and it also seemed a little fishy the terms of his ascension to the Avalarian throne. I found it hard to believe he would have NO opposition, so Greywater filled that gap. He's the opposition, almost in every sense of the word. He's a right-wing, while Ddraig's left-wing; and he covets the thone, and has the support the take it if he wanted.

But, he's also somewhat of an Anti-Villain. And not really, evil, either. Sure, he wants to overthrow the Lawful Good king of Avalar, and YES, he does very much want to line his pockets with Avalarian gold and feel the power of the Avalarian Empire in his paws, but that's not the SOLE REASON why he is the way he is, both sides have good and reasonable reasons to oppose one another: For a start, both sides question the legitimacy of the other: Greywater doesn't think Ddraig got the throne fairly and 'stole' it from Greywater and doesn't think that Ddraigtanto's Socialist plans are what's best for Avalar, and uses the Sekeolasians and Malefor was ways to scare the people into following him.
Meanwhile, Ddraigtanto believes that Greywater is breaking 'Royal Prerogative' by trying to take the throne of a still-living king, he also doesn't think Greywater has the right to rule because no majority has every requested he rules (Like in a Democracy, like Avalar), he also thinks Gether isn't what's best for Avalar because he's only interested in making money and having power, and uses the Dutch desire to rebel against Avalar as a rallying call.
All in all, both sides have a fair set of reasons to be fighting one another, and both would have good reasons to be king. In terms of moral black and white areas, it's a white verses grey in this set-up. And that's what I want, I don't want to just made typical one-sided enemies whom of which are ALL Evil, in fact, it seems quite a few aren't inherently evil at all. But, still...

...Opinions and thoughts are welcome. Please leave them as comments, or note me if, comments are good though. And :+fav: if you like this, thanks. Sorry for the HUGE wall of text though, I had a lot to say about this guy.

Wait, never mind; the Lucien family document says they all died in 2007.
